Maintenance Philosophy

Our philosophy on maintenance is this: Whatever will be the easiest, cheapest, and most convenient to make the car last over 200,000 miles is the only way it will get done!

After many years of trial and success, here is the best way to do it. Working with the manufacturer's suggested intervals, every 30,000 miles a major service is due. That could include spark plugs, fuel filter, cooling system fluid check and/or change, transmission change, brakes check and other fluids and wear parts.

At 60,000 miles, add a timing belt for most vehicles equipped with them, and differential and gear fluid changes, plug wire set after the first 60,000 (we use a wire that is guaranteed to last a lifetime).

These intervals come usually every two to three years on the average, so it is not a major hassle to get them done. We also make it easier by providing rides home or to work as needed. Between these intervals, the only thing needed would be the routine lube, oil and filter service that should be done every three months or 3,000 miles.

It has been proven over and over again that if these guidelines are followed, you should expect many trouble-free years and miles of
reliable transportation.
